Spring Theatre Camps That Grow Confidence, Creativity & Character

This March 2026, The Courtyard Playhouse invites children to unplug from screens and step into a world of imagination, storytelling, and live theatre. Their Spring Theatre Camps are thoughtfully designed to do more than entertain. They nurture confidence, spark creativity, and help children develop strong communication and social skills — all within a safe, supportive, and joy-filled theatre environment.

At The Courtyard Playhouse, children are encouraged to explore freely, take creative risks, and learn through play.

  • Making mistakes is welcomed
  • Big ideas are celebrated
  • Every child is seen, heard, and supported as they grow in confidence both on and off the stage!

Each week is inspired by beloved books and stories, brought to life through drama games, improvisation, movement, and collaborative storytelling, guided by experienced instructors who are passionate about helping young people find their voice.

Mini Storytellers (Ages 4–7)

  • Week 1 Theme: Our Choices Matter, based on The Smartest Giant in Town, Oh, the Places You’ll Go!, The Cool Bean, What If Everybody Did That?
  • Week 2 Theme: The World Is Ours to Look After, based on Amara and the Bats, Kind Little Hands, Here We Are, Somebody Swallowed Stanley

For the youngest performers, storytelling becomes a powerful tool for learning empathy, kindness, and responsibility. Through imaginative play inspired by carefully selected picture books, children explore how their choices affect others, what it means to be kind, and how even small actions can make a big difference. Young campers build listening skills, emotional awareness, and confidence while having enormous fun!

Junior Actors (Ages 8–11)

  • Week 1 Theme: Matilda – Roald Dahl
  • Week 2 Theme: The 13-Storey Treehouse – Andy Griffiths & Terry Denton

Inspired by the fearless spirit of Matilda and the wildly creative world of The 13-Storey Treehouse, children develop resilience, independence, and creative problem-solving. Through improvisation, character work, and collaborative games, they learn to:

  • Trust their ideas
  • Speak up with confidence
  • Work as part of a team
  • Take initiative

Young Performers (Ages 12–14)

  • Week 1 Theme: The Hobbit – J.R.R. Tolkien
  • Week 2 Theme: Wicked – Gregory Maguire

For teens ready to explore deeper storytelling, we dive into the epic journeys of The Hobbit and the powerful perspectives of Wicked. Through ensemble work, character exploration, and guided discussion, participants examine courage, identity, belonging, and empathy — discovering how stories shift depending on who tells them. These sessions help teens strengthen leadership skills, self-awareness, and expressive confidence in a respectful, collaborative setting.

A Camp Designed for Growth — Not Just Performance
