LAMBKIN - Become Eco-Friendly And Inclusive One Small Step At A Time

LAMBKIN is a newly launched kids lifestyle brand in Singapore. More than just kids clothes, their mission is to educate, influence and inspire others to live a more eco-conscious and inclusive life – starting with the ongoing indifference of their fellow Singaporeans with regard to the environment, and the ignorance of the damages their actions cause (like needing to wash and completely dry containers like bottle and milk cartons before putting them into the recycling bin).

The name LAMBKIN was chosen as it is a term of endearment and affection that many parents including the founders use for their young ones. Their website at www.LAMBKIN.co was launched on 1 March 2022

LAMBKIN creates and curates products accessible to everyone from all walks of life, without putting a strain on Mother Earth and her people. Everything they source – from their clothes and products to their packaging – come only from partners and manufacturers who do right by the environment and their communities by adhering to safe and fair work & wage practices. And they only produce or stock small, well-made collections at a time to promote mindful, intentional purchasing.

Every physical brand touchpoint was specifically designed to embody and reiterate LAMBKIN’s mission of eco-consciousness: their packaging are made of recycled materials; their boxes come enclosed with a message encouraging recipients to decorate and reuse them as ‘treasure chests’; even their tags bear a similar note that recommends repurposing them into bookmarks or embellishments for their ‘treasure chest’. They also have a dedicated Organic Collection that includes brands like Colored Organics and Finn & Emma to encourage parents to make the switch to eco-friendly ‘slow fashion’.

Alongside eco-consciousness, LAMBKIN endeavours to represent all kinds of children. Their brand marketing prominently features children with different physical features, hair textures, skin tones and capabilities. Their Facebook and Instagram regularly shares information on social causes such as World Down Syndrome Day, and giving back to charities like Share The Meal – an initiative of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) which LAMBKIN donates a portion of their monthly sales to. Several of the kids clothes from their Everyday Collection are also deliberately gender neutral to facilitate shopping and passing down to younger siblings or others.

On 2 April 2022 – just over a month from the day their website launched – the LAMBKIN team held their Launch Party on a beautiful and bright Saturday morning at Pasir Ris Park. And in true LAMBKIN fashion, their Launch Party involved a Beach Clean Up!

While cleaning the beach and learning about the different kinds of waste that end up in the sea and on the shoreline, their guests also played games like giant Tic Tac Toe in the sand, football on the grass, and even showed off some dance moves. Goes to show that teaching kids about doing their part to help the environment can be heaps of fun!

And a lot of trash was collected after just two hours – eight big bags! It was a sobering reminder of how Singaporeans still have a long way to go in doing right by our planet.

They hope their lambkins learned the importance of reducing, recycling and responsibly disposing waste, and that they do not need ‘big, grandiose gestures’ to affect change. Simple and modest acts when done consistently can help make our world greener and kinder – "One small step at a time…"
