STEAM Lab


STEAM Lab is NLB’s biannual festival for children & teens that celebrates Science, Tech, Engineering, Arts, and Maths through learning & tinkering. 



This year’s theme, Enter the Unknown, invites you to step beyond the familiar and discover new insights about the world around you. Through a spread of interactive booths, hands-on programmes, and fringe activities, learn how to stay curious & creative in a world full of surprises!
 

Catch us from 15-16 August 2025 at The Plaza, National Library Building (L1), and Central Library (B1).

Explore the deep sea, journey with space tech, dabble with abstract art, and more! Our partner booths feature hands-on activities which bring STEAM to life.

  • Free Play Zones

Take on a range of challenges at our Free Play Zones! Gear up with inventions at Spark!Lab, a tinkering space in collaboration with the Smithsonian Museum, or dive into digital cyber quests at S.U.R.E. stations to combat misinformation.

Programmes

From hands-on workshops to a live performances, discover a range of experiences happening throughout the festival:

  • Step into a virtual intertidal zone or write your own eco-fractured fairytale.
  • Go on a scavenger hunt around the library to discover the secrets of STEAM.
  • Catch a music showcase with songs inspired by the unknown, or be amazed by a STEAM-themed magic show.
